  14. Xanthus International Announces Celebro, the Multi-User Flat-File Database for
  15. NEXTSTEP

  17. Stockholm, May 19, 1993 - Xanthus International AB today announced Celebrod,
  18. its multi-user flat-file database application for the NEXTSTEP computing
  19. environment.

  21. Aimed at everybody that wants to create complete databases quickly, Celebro
  22. offers a number of unique features, including intuitive form design tools,
  23. true multi-user access, multiple views of data and a powerful scripting
  24. language.

  26. For example, Celebro is the perfect tool for customer and client databases
  27. where you want different report types, label printouts, complex queries and
  28. most importantly, multiple users on the same database.

  30. "Celebro makes multi-user databases extremely simple to create and use", says
  31. Jesper Lundh, marketing manager at Xanthus. "Also, a customer database is not
  32. very efficient if only one person at a time can use it. This product fills the
  33. database need of most small and medium sized companies."

  35. The extended version of Celebro, called Celebro Professional, makes it
  36. possible to create a stand-alone database application from a Celebro database.

  39. Celebro comes with a powerful scripting language, CScript that allows the user
  40. to customize database applications in almost any way. CScript can be used for
  41. data validation, data formatting and many other things.

  43. CScript is an extended version of Xanthus Common Language (XCL), a uniform
  44. scripting language used in all Xanthus software products with scripting
  45. capabilities. XCL gives you a uniform scripting syntax and a common set of
  46. basic functions. In addition, XCL allows you to write external functions in
  47. XCL or in Objective-C that can be used by any XCL-based application from
  48. Xanthus.

  51.  - True multi-user access with record locking and notification of new
  52.    database users.
  53.  - Multiple views of your data, including card, page, label, report
  54.    and table-views.
  55.  - Powerful label design features. The label view allows you to
  56.    freely design labels, including margins, inter-spacing and
  57.    even which of the labels on the page that should be printed.
  58.  - Table overview. Each database can be inspected as a table view.
  59.    You can edit the field values directly in the table view.
  60.  - Versatile report view. You can easily design customized reports
  61.    from your data, including aggregated fields like sum and
  62.    average.
  63.  - Multiple field views. A field in the database can be displayed
  64.    through multiple objects in the same view. For example, a
  65.    numeric field can be displayed and edited with a slider and
  66.    simultaneously displayed in a gauge or a graph.
  67.  - Full support for multimedia data-types like image and sound.
  68.  - Celebro supports the following field-types: number, string,
  69.    boolean, RTF text, color, sound, image, date, text-file,
  70.    sound-file, image-file, file-name and calculated.
  71.  - Full WYSIWYG layout capabilities in all view types.
  72.  - Input controllers like buttons, text-fields and sliders can be
  73.    drag-and-dropped anywhere on a view and connected to a data
  74.    field.
  75.  - Powerful queries. Any number of query objects can be created and
  76.    saved with the database document.
  77.  - Output objects like graphs and gauges can be drag-and-dropped
  78.    anywhere on a view and connected to database fields for
  79.    continuous updating.
  80.  - A ToolBox that includes object palettes and a number of other
  81.    tools that removes the need for modal panels. The ToolBox
  82.    also includes complete scripting support.
  83.  - Drawing tools that allows you to draw directly on any view type.
  84.  - Full support for object linking.
  85.  - Unlimited undo. All commands can be undone and the number of undos
  86.    are user defined.
  87.  - Full support for user palettes. Users can easily create new
  88.    palettes with customized objects.
  89.  - Powerful scripting language - CScript - that allows you to
  90.    customize your database in almost any way, for example for
  91.    data formatting and validation.
  92.  - The extended version, called Celebro Professional, allows you to
  93.    automatically create freely distributable, stand-alone
  94.    database applications from your Celebro databases. These
  95.    applications can have your own custom icon and Info panel.
